CELPIP (Canadian English Language Proficiency Index Program) Coaching
CELPIP is a computer delivered single sitting test, that is administered by the paragon testing enterprises. In India there is only one exam center, which is located in Chandigarh. The result is declared in 8 days. An express score can be demanded after an extra payment and the same is available in 3-4 days.
The CELPIP test is fully computerized, giving the opportunity to test takers to complete all test components without any extra appointments, interviews or test sitting. CELPIP Test Takers use a computer mouse and keyboard to complete the reading and writing components of the test, and use computer microphones and headsets to complete listening and speaking components. Computerized test offers a quick and a reliable test experience.
There are two types of CELPIP:
- CELPIP (General)
- CELPIP (LS)
CELPIP General: The CELPIP-General Test assesses the functional listening, reading, writing and speaking skills, and is accepted by immigration, refugees and citizenship Canada (IRCC) as proof of English language proficiency for permanent residency in Canada.
Test Structure:
There are four modules in CELPIP-General test: listening, reading, writing, speaking. The total length of all four modules is 180 minutes.
Listening:
The duration of listening part is 47 Minutes. There are total 7 sections in this part and in these 7 sections consists of 39 Questions. Note: some questions are for future question bank purposes and do not carry any marks. Although, the test taker has to attempt all the questions.
Reading:
The reading section takes upto 60 Minutes, it is divided into 8 sections. In reading section a time slot will be opened for each question and the test taker has to attempt the question in that given time slot. Once the time is over you cannot attempted it. Also in reading section some questions are for future question bank purposes and do not carry any marks. Although, the test taker has to attempt all the questions.
Writing:
In writing part there are two tasks and you have to complete this task in 55 minutes. In the task 1 you need to write an email and the time slot of this task is 27 minutes. After the completion of this allotted time 27 minutes the window automatically switches over to task 2. In this task you need to respond to general survey questions. The time slot for task 2 is 27 – 28 minutes.
Speaking:
In CELPIP speaking is also a computer based test which takes 20 minutes and consist of 7-8 sections.
CELPIP (LS):
The CELPIP- LS test assesses functional listening and speaking proficiency, and is accepted by IRCC as proof of English language proficiency for Canadian citizenship.
Test Structure:
There are only two modules in CELPIP-LS test: listening and speaking.The total test time for the CELPIP- LS Test is about 1 hour and 10 minutes.
Listening:
The test of listening is approximately 50 minutes long and consists of 6 parts. Each part has a long talk of 1 to 3 minutes. A conversation can also be a video that will contain 3 to 8 questions. Questions can not be seen during the audio play, so taking notes is important. There are 30 seconds to answer each question. Question types are mainly MCQ and fill in the blanks. Questions for MCQs are played in audio form along with the options displayed on the screen. The sentences are displayed on the screen to fill the vacant space. The answer to the filling should be selected from the options given in the drop down menu. For video-based conversations, it is important to watch the video as well as listening to it, because questions can be such – what did the person wearing denim think about hiring new people?
Speaking:
The Speaking Test is approximately 25 minutes long. There are 8 functions. The preparation time for each has been given 30 seconds. The time of preparation starts when the subject appears on the screen. After 30 seconds, you are asked to start speaking. The time to speak for each task is 1 minute. After the time is up, the next task automatically appears on the screen. Speaking topics are similar to topics IELTS speaks.
